Japanese Group invests in Delsbo and Västerås

AKM is a major supplier to the automotive industry and sees great potential in an in-depth relationship with Senseair, i.e. to continue the development of:

• indoor air quality measurement/control
• alcohol and carbon dioxide sensors for vehicles
• "Internet of Things" solutions for smart homes and cities
• environmental monitoring

AKM develops and manufactures semiconductor technology (silicon etc.) segments and sensors for various applications. Their materials technology is world-leading for applications in "invisible light", UV and IR, with so-called Group III-V material.

Senseair and AKM are now focusing on air quality and safety in the automotive environment and a new full sensor generation in carbon dioxide as well as new solutions for "screening" alcohol abuse in vehicles.

AKM's intention is to invest in the development of products, services and production of sensors in Sweden. The company will be operated under the Senseair brand and with the same management.

Senseair's founder, Hans Martin, sees the need for a major player who can invest in development and production to cope with growing demand.

Just three months ago, Senseair AB acquired Hök Instrument AB to strengthen their joint venture around alcohol sensors. Bertil Hök, the founder of Hök Instrument AB, has high expectations for AKM on a continued strong focus on innovations.
